Poetry for the Inner Ear

  total horror present in world: with faith in other persons fresh start of holy era and heavens rejoice   hermit caves and monasteries echo songs of peace and compassion give us hope

  unaware of prophetic truth heart of the proud fond of destruction   dew upon the grass inspiring zen disciple: departing from evil

  I pray for peace the world around the shamed wolf tamed by brotherhood nourishing earth with compassion   out damned spot lady macbeth says the smell of hostile blood haunts and haunts: slaughter for the sake of wild ambition

  blest mansion beyond harm in the city of righteousness: paradise found   phantom of perished soldier such illusion in our memory: furies won’t let us sleep

  trailing unattainable fire led into the marshes: decaying civilization arbitrarily harassed by all we don’t complain: invincible god our only passion

  great wisdom to prize deed more serviceable than sermon: wary of flattering mouth awaiting unfolding of the almighty’s will realizing  his holy command: pure joy arises

  oblivious of predatory devil the virtuous suffer: angels are watching   unwilling to control tear of joy high converse with omnipresent god echoes wandering
