Poetry for the Inner Ear

 in vain archfiend threatens nuclear cauldron radiation poison the faithful will survive let us create righteousness god will be kind to us prophet sending message over mountains atomic arsenal destroyed satan scared away our allies are truth and justice

 unaware of devil at prey holy sages suffer generation to generation god is our fortress adversaries will be cofounded bright watcher preserves us prophet never shuts his eyes  awaiting the dove's return starving for this moment

 it grieves heart of the righteous armies vowing to fight another day peacetime better than war god is our strong rock we thank thee for ever devil fails to oppress us those who obey the word survive possible to tame satanic forces love and love again

 much troubled and unable to speak I was comforted by prophet's voice all the humble will be saved beware vindictive politician obsessed with violence and playing foul beyond cure devil wins god the best judge cuts off horns of the wicked at the turning point

 let devil be confounded for ever I have faith peace will be sustained winter storm will no longer blaze trust in god removes hatred  creates a world that loves and cares reward is there for the righteous golden age will appear with the wicked we should not go second coming will do wonders 

 incoming atomic warheads antiballistic missiles foolishness of fools god's fellow-servant I trust angels are there nuclear war will be averted

 ignorant armed conflicts trouble and anguish oppress us the righteous wait upon thee let heavenly pity fall on us living in tents of wickedness ceaseless drought of compassion violence follows violence satanic hatred sheds innocent blood some fatal choice
