Santosh Kumar: Santosh Kumar (b. 1946) is a poet, short-story writer and an editor from UP India; DPhil in English; member of World Poets Society (W.P.S.); member of World Haiku Association, Japan; presented papers in the seminar at Oslo, Norway in September 2008; read his poetry in Lithuania 2009. He has also edited sixteen World Poetry Anthologies, and four books of World’s Great Short Stories. He is also the author of a collection of poems entitled Helicon,Haiku collection New Utopia, NO NUKES: Brave New World of Beauty, A Long Narrative Poem, Songs of Peace & Haiku,Critical Essays in collaboration with Adam Donaldson Powell.He has also edited The Poetic Achievement of Ban'ya Natsuishi.

The Variety and Richness in Branch Redd Review issue 6 Literary Journal by Bill Sherman (Edited & published by Bill Sherman, Branch Redd Books, USA, 2002, pp 80, £5/$10. ISBN 0-9615784-8-3) BRR edited & published by Bill Sherman is one of the most admirable literary Journals. It is marked by genuine autobiographical touches. Sherman has brought to his Journal a wide experience of literature, sincere sympathies, and a rich sense of humour. Sherman is unhappy due to lack of public interest in the English translations of the poetry of Dagny Juel, along with " the deep feminist introduction" by the translator, Norwegian poet Hanne Bramness. As I came to know that the issue Number 6 would be the last one, I wrote to Sherman that such highly accomplished quality Journals deserved more publications. The Journal is highly informative. Confidence is The Goal

Leaves of Grass

Many critics criticize Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass. The Boston Intelligencer condemned his poetry as full of “bombast, egotism, vulgarity and nonsense". A few critics wanted Whitman to be punished. He deserves “the lash for such a violation of decency”. It is beyond comprehension why some of the critics called Leaves of Grass a dirty book. We should remember that both R.W. Emerson and Thoreau admired his poetry. Thoreau aptly remarked: “He has spoken more truth than any American or modern that I know. I have found his poem exhilarating, encouraging.” Take for example the following lines: I know that the hand of God is the promise of my own, And I know that the spirit of God is the brother of my own, And that all the men ever born are also my brothers, and the women my sisters and lovers, And that a kelson of the creation is love. Prometheus Unbound is a four-act play by the greatest Romantic poet P. B. Shelley. The play opens a Ravine of Icy Rocks in the Indian Caucasus.
