To be resigned when death strikes


nothing else we human beings can do
opera legend
joan sutherland
golden hours
the world won’t forget her art
alas! we have nothing better now on earth
as years are flown
icy death knocks at the gate
send out your prayer to Joan

ii.

 Dead in vaulted arches Joan lies
and the world pensive cries
but on earth in fame you live
o what a miracle to us
your towering genius
the drooping Muse bemoans your death
due to grief slow comes the verse
speechless o’er your departure for ever

iii.

The obstinate questioning
why heaven decreed
taylor vit's death in a car wreck
pale horror rejoices

tremble in extreme distress
I send out my prayers
